Texican Court, Valencia Group’s newest boutique hotel in Irving, Texas, blends midcentury chic, southwestern flair, and authentic Tex-Mex cuisine.
Valencia Group debuted its Lone Star Court boutique hotel in Austin just five years ago, with inviting outdoor areas and retro-inspired decor. The success of that first project led to the expansion of the Court brand, known for its present-day spins on the midcentury motor lodge, with big nods to design elements and communal spaces. In 2016, the second court was designed with a fun spin on a military motif at Cavalry Court in College Station, home to Texas A&M’s campus. This year sees the debut of Court number three: Texican Court. Just outside of Dallas in the city of Irving, the 152-room hotel blends midcentury chic with a southwestern flair. From the Tequila Bar to inviting courtyards, here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect from Valencia Group’s newest addition.
Design Elements: Old Texas Hits the Highway
To create this authentic Old-Texas design, the courtyard and outside paths were inspired by architectural styles like Mexican hacienda and adobe. In a nod to the Court brand that channels the ‘60s road-trip boom times, bright pops of color like teal and burnt orange accent faux-vintage appliances among the modern touches.
Food & Drink: Straddling the Border
Like the hotel’s cheeky blend of old and new, the Two Mules Cantina blends north Mexican staples with new foodie trends. The menu features tacos that use northern Mexican flavors like grilled meats and pickled vegetables to create bright and often spicy dishes. The Tequila Bar will serve up mainly tapas-inspired small plates that are designed for sharing. Each restaurant’s decor invites a longer stay, whether it be the bar’s muted white adobe walls and warm wood accents or the cantina’s darker-toned woods and moody atmosphere.
